Niagara Aerial Winery Tour

Niagara Aerial Winery Tour

Niagara Aerial Winery Tour

The Niagara Aerial Winery Tour takes you on a spectacular tour of the world-famous Niagara wine region.

The in-flight commentary describes the history and development of the region that is so important in the production of the region's world-class, award-winning wines.

This is a tour for the wine lover in us all. The 25-minute flight will take you over one of the major wine regions in Ontario.

This tour is pending. Please check back again soon

Nestled between the shore of Lake Ontario and the Niagara escarpment, this area has a unique microclimate that moderates both the summer heat and the winter cold. It has the ideal combination of sandy loam, gravel, and clay soils to provide proper drainage and acidity to grow the vitis vinifera vines necessary to produce world-class wines.

Niagara's vineyards are situated along the 43rd parallel, similar to the famous wine regions of France, Italy, California, and Spain. Over 14,000 acres are cultivated to supply juice for the over 45 wineries located here.

You will fly over major wineries along the Niagara wine route. Over Chateau des Charmes winery, you will be able to see the wind towers that are used to protect the grapes by fending off frost late in the season.

The star of Ontario wines is the intensely-flavored Icewine. Ontario is the only wine-growing region that has a winter cold enough to ensure the production of Icewine each year that is consistent in both taste and quality. Conditions are unfavorable in Europe for the successful production of this unique wine.

The wine tour also includes a fantastic flight over the wondrous Niagara Falls, a cascading waterfall over 54 metres high, with some 170 cubic metres of water thundering into the gorge every minute. Niagara, a North American Indian name meaning thundering waters was formed 12,000 years ago as the glaciers retreated during the last ice age. Niagara Air Tours offers you a breathtaking view of the falls. No one takes you lower, not even the helicopters, so bring your camera. You won't want to miss the wonderful photo opportunities and memories to last a lifetime.

The informative commentary on this tour is provided in stereo and highlights the subtleties of this region that contribute to the production of award-winning wines.

As an added feature there is a complimentary wine tasting offered at a local winery for each passenger who purchases the Aerial Winery Tour.

We use only high-winged Cessna aircraft, allowing for maximum visibility of the magnificent sights below. These airplanes are specially equipped for sightseeing tours with stereo headsets so that each passenger can enjoy the informative commentary describing the rich history and development of the region. Our airplanes have no middle seats, unlike the helicopters, so every seat is a window seat from which you have an excellent opportunity for memorable videos and photos.

Our aircraft are meticulously maintained and pass continual safety inspections conducted by the Government of Canada and are controlled by flight service to ensure passenger safety.

The professionally-trained pilots undergo continuous training. This extensive training, along with the successful completion of government exams, allows the pilots to fly in the restricted airspace over Niagara Falls.

The comfortable aircraft are designed to make them easy to board and de-board, and our courteous staff are present to provide any assistance necessary. All of our air tours are fully wheelchair accessible.
